Hypocrisy in theIndian Churches
Looking at the topic, you might have come to three conclusions!
Either, I am judging Christians, angry about pastors or an useless blog
Yes, you are right, I am angry at the Church, angry at pastors, angry at churches that have forgotten their calling, forgotten their commitment to stand in the word of GOD. Church is the bride of Christ but her affair and love for the world has broken the covenant with Christ. She longs to call herself as the bride of Christ yet her actions portray she is bride of the world. This is what I call Hypocrisy! 😦
I come from a country where where pastors, ministers of God stood firm, walked bold, spoke fervently, faced opposition with courage, never compromised and died as martyrs for Christ. Now in 2017, when I look at the churches, it is in sad state! Leaders long for power, pay for position, manipulate words, commit subtle corruption, fallen for pornography, doing gimmicks to attract crowd, making believers comfortable, admonishing church is a crime, working for numbers! This is what I call Hypocrisy! 😦
Thank God for those faithful pastors who are still standing firm in their commitment to the word and GOD.
Why I am hitting hard on these pastors? Because
a) Pastor condemns a believer for wearing ornaments yet he takes ornaments during the construction of the Church
b) Pastor talks about humility and simple lifestyle in the church yet he spends millions for his daughter’s wedding
c) Pastor labels a person as an immature believer when he/she questions the wrong regulations inside the church administration but the same person will be considered as an elder when he submits himself to this church/pastor.
d) Pastor encourages church believers to send their children to ministry and Bible College but he sends his son to study Engineering and medicine.
e) Pastor talks about the ill-effects of caste in the church yet he favors his caste group more.
f) Pastor gets offended in pulpit when he is not called by his designated title ( Center pastor, secretory, president, District pastor etc) yet he preaches from the same podium that we all are servants of LORD Jesus Christ.
Jesus strongly rebukes these kinds of people during his days too! In Matt 7:15, 15: 8-9, 23:27; Luke 3:8, calling these people as, “brood of vipers,” “whitewashed tombs,” “you hypocrites,” “wolves in sheep clothing” etc. He even asked them to take the speck from their eyes before pointing out to another. The message that Jesus had for them is to have an attitude of submission, walk the talk, pursuing the perfection through love, introspecting lifestyle, demonstrative spirituality, justice moved with compassion. However, some Church leaders in 21st Century lack most of these qualities. So, let us not strive to be religious but spiritual, which cannot be achieved by words, but only through our actions.
